Rev. Dr. Tom Martin

To serve as our Bridge Minister

Tom was born in Brownsville, TN on August 1, 1949.  He was reared in the west Tennessee town of Halls, where he graduated Salutatorian from Halls High School.  Following high school, Tom attended Texas Christian University, graduating cum laude in 1971.  He then entered the Divinity School at Vanderbilt University and received his Masters of Divinity Degree in 1974 and Doctor of Ministry in 1975.  Since coming to Cadiz, Tom has served as President of the Trigg County Ministerial Association, Trigg County Elementary School PTA, West Area of the Christian Church in Kentucky, Cadiz Rotary Club, Friends of the John L. Street Library; Second Vice Moderator for the Christian Church in Kentucky, Board member to the Trigg County Council on Aging and Sanctuary, Inc.  Tom has served as a member of the General Board of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) as well as their Executive Board, and as a Board member of the Christian Church in Kentucky.  Tom and his wife, Carol Hairston Martin, have been married since June of 1971.  Carol is now a retired second grade teacher. They have two daughters: Clare is married to Dave, and they have a 3 year old son, Fielding. Clare is an editor for Key Media. They live in Auckland, New Zealand. Their second daughter is Margaret. She is married to Daniel, and they have two daughters, Emma 6 and Haley 3. They live in Charleston, WV. Margaret is at this time a stay-at-home Mom.  Tom recently retired after serving as Senior Minister of Cadiz Christian Church for 42 years.  Tom’s hobbies include golf, hunting, and fishing.
