Making Disciples of Christ by Sharing God’s Love in Relationship, Reflection and Response

At First Christian Church, we believe that as followers of Jesus Christ, we are to respond
in love to the world. The primary way in which we respond is through mission, loving
our neighbor as ourselves. FCC participates in a number of mission-oriented ministries
including serving lunch at the Salvation Army Soup kitchen, fielding a Relay for Life
Team, and sending youth and adult teams to do mission work both domestically and

Our Vision calls us to focus much of our mission work toward our newly formed
partnership with Challenge House. First Christian Church used surplus monies in 2012
to purchase a house in the Crockett Street neighborhood, only a few blocks from our
facility. Members of the church have renovated the house and continue to maintain the
property. Working with Challenge House, we will place an ambassador(s) in the home
to help us build relationships in the community. The ambassador(s) will work with the
church on providing programming to meet the needs of the neighborhood (i.e. tutoring
children, GED classes, chess club, etc.).

The greatest part of our mission with Challenge House is that every person in our church
can be involved. Whether it is praying for the people with whom we are building
relationships or painting walls or mowing the lawn or developing new programming,
everyone has a place in the Challenge House Movement.
